A year on : Labral hip tear reconstruction

On the 20th of January 2015 I had my left hip reconstructed after tearing the labral quite severely.
I can safely say the night before my surgery I was as nervous as you could get, the thought of them dislocating my hip and poking around had me cringing horrendously. Roll on the next day and I was one of the last patients to be seen ( damn having a last name so close to the end of the alphabet!).
The day after my surgery my surgeon came round and told me it was a "use it or lose it" situation for the flexibility of my hip and that has stuck with me since.

I can safely say I am amazed at the results of the surgery. I didn't realise just how bad my hip was until I was able to see the results - I didn't know that my hip was so weak or so stiff until then.
The recovery was fantastic, I was up and off crutches within 2 weeks and able to move freely. Full recovery is 9-12 months and to be able to run is a 6-9 month wait, but so worth it!
Next month I'll be having an appointment for my right hip and am very excited to have it operated on - who knew you could be excited over an operation?!
